Orders and proofs
Every finished keepsake is made to order. After you check out, we email you a preview of your design to approve. Printing starts only after you approve it. If you’d like changes, we’ll send an updated preview.
If you asked us to trace your trail (no GPX), we’ll build the route and send it for approval the same way.
Most keepsakes ship about two weeks after you approve the preview. During busy seasons we may limit how many orders we take so we can keep that promise. Any holiday order deadline is shown on the home page.
Shipping
We ship within the United States by USPS for a flat $12 per order, and email tracking when your keepsake ships. Sales tax is added at checkout where required.
We can’t ship internationally yet.
Returns and remakes
- Before you approve your preview: cancel any time for a full refund.
- After printing starts: because each piece is personalized, we can’t accept returns or exchanges.
- Damaged in shipping or made wrong: email a photo to hello@topoandtimber.com within 7 days of delivery and we’ll remake it free.
- If we can’t make it (for example, elevation data isn’t available for your area), we’ll refund you in full.
Wood is natural: grain, color, bark and edges vary from piece to piece, and the live edge is part of the charm, not a defect.
Print-it-yourself files
Print files are digital and available right after payment from your private design link. They’re licensed for your personal, non-commercial use: print as many as you like for yourself, your family or your crew. Please don’t resell them or share them publicly.
Because files are delivered instantly, they’re non-refundable. If a file won’t open or slice correctly, email us and we’ll fix it or refund you.
Gift cards
- Gift cards never expire and have no fees.
- Each code is used once, on one order. If the order costs less than the card, the unused balance isn’t kept.
- Gift cards have no cash value and can’t be refunded or exchanged for cash, except where required by law.
- Lost your code? Email hello@topoandtimber.com from the address you used to buy it.
Privacy
Your route. When you upload a GPX file, we keep only its coordinates and elevations; names, times and health data are removed in your browser. Your route is saved only when you save or order a design, and a saved design can be opened only with its private link.
Elevation data. To build terrain, we send a rough rectangle around your route to the U.S. Geological Survey, never your exact track.
Payments and shipping. Checkout is handled by Stripe. We receive your name, email and shipping address to fulfill your order; we never see your card number.
Cookies. We use one cookie to keep your design session working, and Cloudflare Turnstile to block bots. We don’t use advertising or tracking cookies, and we don’t sell or share your information for marketing.
Analytics. We count visits and which steps lead to an order using PostHog, set up without cookies or stored identifiers. It doesn’t record your screen, what you type, or your route.
Your choices. You can delete an unpaid design from the design page at any time. For any other request, such as deleting a paid order’s route once it has shipped, email hello@topoandtimber.com. We keep order records as long as needed for taxes and accounting.
Terms
- By uploading a route, you confirm it’s yours or you have permission to use it.
- We may decline nameplate text that is offensive or uses someone else’s trademark or logo in a way we can’t print.
- Previews are a close guide, not an exact match: printed colors, layer lines and fine terrain detail differ a little from what you see on screen.
- Topo & Timber is an independent studio and isn’t affiliated with or endorsed by AllTrails, Strava, Garmin, Scouting America or Philmont Scout Ranch, or any other trail, park or app named by customers.
- Our total responsibility for any order is limited to what you paid for it.
- These terms are governed by the laws of North Carolina.
